JR Canada Restaurant Group Ltd. is indeed a Canadian Company with an all-Canadian Management Team of Professionals with vast experience in the Canadian Restaurant scene. We are proud of our Canadian heritage and we wear it with pride on our sleeves.

Our Restaurants will employ Canadians, Landed Immigrants and all who are legal to live and work in our great Country and will reflect the core Canadian values of mutual respect, celebration of diversity, and inclusiveness. Our company motto is “sharing and caring” which is as Canadian as it gets.

When we negotiated the Canadian rights to Johnny Rockets, we insisted on the ability to source our food, inventory, restaurant equipment and construction materials from Canadian suppliers. To date we have and continue to purchase from Canadian sources first and foremost.

We love Johnny Rockets, we love the name, the brand the food and the people. We love the look and feel of Johnny Rockets; the return to simple pleasures, the emphasis on great food in a fun, clean and vibrant atmosphere. We also love Canada, and we think that if Canada were a Restaurant, it would be the greatest Restaurant concept ever: big, beautiful, clean, fun, diverse, friendly, inclusive. We will see to it that Johnny Rockets Canada will make us all proud!

An All-Canadian Management Team

Lewis Gelmon, President & CEO

If you’re a fan of pizza in Canada then Lewis may have had a hand in it, as he was instrumental in expanding Domino’s Pizza in the 1990s across Canada in a big way. By purchasing the Canadian master franchise rights from Domino’s Pizza of the United States, Lewis assisted in doubling the number of stores using his expertise in site selection and real estate lease negotiations. Following his tenure with Domino’s, Lewis founded Cirrus Tenant Lease Services. Cirrus grew in to the largest provider of tenant-focused services in the world representing restaurant chains and health care practitioners. Since timing is everything, Lewis sold Cirrus at its peak and continued in the industry he helped shape as an independent consultant. It was at this time he was introduced to and assisted Johnny Rockets’ corporate stores and franchisees across the United States with their leasing needs. It was through his close working relationship with senior management and love of the brand that Lewis sought the rights to bring Johnny Rockets to Canada.

Barry Lang-Hodge, Chief Operating Officer & General Counsel

Barry has been actively involved in the restaurant and legal profession in both Canada and the United States for 30 years. His experience in franchise and corporate governance laws will assist us in building out Johnny Rockets’ franchise model. Barry’s most recent position was with Subway’s master franchisee for Alberta and British Columbia. Prior to Subway, he was the sole Executive Officer for Domino’s Pizza of Canada overseeing an expansion from 272 stores to nearly 400 stores in eight years. Thanks to Barry’s expertise, total system sales more than doubled under his supervision.

Barry’s passion is developing a keen sense of loyalty and betterment of people within our organization and shaping Johnny Rockets as an ethical company in all areas of its operations.

Ken Barker, Vice President of Development

Ken knows food service operations. Having spent over 25 years as a successful and effective manager, Ken has the ability to motivate and inspire exceptional performance. This experience began as a director of food and beverage for Coast Hotels and proceeded to Vice President of Training for Domino’s Pizza of Canada. During challenging economic times, Ken directly oversaw skyrocketing same-store sales at Domino’s.

Ken will oversee all aspects of operation and development for Johnny Rockets in Canada and looks forward to putting together a team of bright and motivated people to be the face of our organization.

Tony Barron, Vice President of Technology & Media

With over 20 years of experience in technology, Tony has seen the industry evolve at lightning speed. Having worked with everyone from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 companies, he has been involved in all aspects of digital technology including coding, design, user experience and marketing. Tony has also consulted with companies on how to better utilize and take advantage of technology.

Tony will coordinate technology and marketing initiatives for Johnny Rockets in Canada.

Darren Denmee, Vice President of Operations

Darren has worked extensively as a leader in the hospitality industry in Canada for the past 30 years. He brings operational expertise in casual and quick service dining concepts for major Canadian restaurant brands as both a manager and consultant. Having previously managed a team of over 500 people with McDonald’s restaurants as an Operations Consultant to most recently coaching franchisees as a Business Development Manager for Tim Hortons Darren’s restaurants have demonstrated an ongoing improvement in same-store sales and profit throughout his career. Having worked in both franchisee and corporate structures Darren brings a unique perspective to restaurant operations and training and is excited to bring his knowledge and experience to the Johnny Rockets team.
